The smell of fresh carnations can be described as almost spicy, faintly reminiscent of clove or cinnamon. This has made the flower a popular choice in perfumery and cosmetics. 

How is fresh carnation petal infusion made?

Lush make our infusions in-house. For this particular infusion, fresh carnation petals of gently gathered in a muslin cloth and steeped in hot water for several minutes, delivering their properties and floral aroma.

Where does Lush source fresh carnation petals?

Lush purchase flowers (fresh and dried) from multiple suppliers who source them from different countries around the world depending on species, season and availability. They must comply with Lush's buying policy which encourages growers to move away from the use of hazardous pesticides. Periodic, case-by-case spot checks are also performed to detect pesticide residues on the ingredients entering our factories.

Carnations come in many colours, with each colour taking on different symbolism in floriography (the symbolism of flowers). For example, pink carnations symbolise gratitude, while red carnations, symbolise luck.
